This is a question I feel we all have asked.
Does God Love Me?
Am I worthy of His love?
Does He love me when I make mistakes?
Can I loose God's love?
We as humans want to feel loved and accepted. We have this need for approval. It is part of our human condition. A lot of the time we also feel we are not loved, or worthy of love. We feel worthless, dirty, abandoned.
So many times in my life I have fought these feelings. I still continue to fight these feelings every single day. I have felt the sting of not being wanted by a parent, I have felt the sting of heart-break from first relationships, I have felt betrayal of my spouse, I felt heart-ache and pain of loosing a loved one. There are so many moments in my life where I have felt abandoned, unloved, unwanted, unworthy, and the lowest of the low. It has made me cry out to God why? and do you even love me at all?
However, I can say looking back at these moments, although they are still painful at times, I can say that God used them for my good. That he was moving even in those low times, because he loves me unconditionally. I have felt first hand the comforter (the Holy Spirit) holding me close, comforting me. So many people get the misconception that God causes bad things for our good. The world is bad, God just tries to make the best of this broken world.
If you read 1 John 4:7-19 you will see God's Love.
"In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1 John 4:10 ESV)
God showed his love for us by sending his son to die for our sins. So that we could in him be saved. Jesus willingly came down from his Holy seat in heaven, to live as a human, to feel our pain and hurt. Then he willingly laid down his life for us, the ultimate sacrifice. So that we would no longer be separated from God the Father, but through Jesus we now have the promise of being with him. What an amazing love!
"So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is Love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. " (1 John 4:16 ESV)
God is Love! Let me say it again God is Love! If you abide in love then you abide in God, and he abides in you. Not only do we get a relationship with him and seek him, but he wants to reside in us and have a relationship with us. The God of the universe wants a real true relationship with you. He loves you, because he is love!
So the next time you feel unworthy, unloved, abandoned, and the low of the low. Rebuke those feelings and thoughts, for they are of Satan and the brokenness inside us. Instead listen to the words of God that made a way to heal that brokenness, and to fill that void with is unconditional, never-ending love!
We thank you right now for your Love, for your unconditional and never-ending love for us. That you loved us even when we were sinners, even when we turn from you, curse your name, you still love us. Nothing we do can separate us from your love. We are so grateful that when the world turns on us, when those we love hurt us, we have a God who will always love us and be there to hold and comfort us. You are such an amazing God. Thank you for your grace and your mercy. Help us to never forget your love for us, and to daily remember and be thankful for that love.
